The Voyageurs National Park area
is a 4 season area with many things to do but water is the main focus of
the area! Fish hundreds of miles of shoreline and islands, cruise to
the Kettle Falls damn or Crane Lake for lunch, visit the Ellsworth Rock Gardens,
travel up river and view the rock cliffs
on your way to Ash River Falls or take a sunset cruise!
Starting in September,
hunting is in its prime as ruffed grouse and black bear season opens.
White-tail deer season open the first Saturday in November. Northern Minnesota has thousands of acres of
public hunting land with miles of perfect trails for the hunter. Fall also
offers some spectacular fishing days! Nothing beats a warm fall day on
one of our area lakes or nearby Sullivan Bay while taking in excellent fishing action
and the brilliant fall colors!
VOYAGEURS NATIONAL PARK
Established in 1975, Minnesota’s only
national park commemorates a key stretch of waterway canoed by 18th century French-Canadian Voyageurs who transported goods and furs along the
international border lakes.
ASH RIVER
VISITOR CENTER Meadwood Rd. Ash River Trail Open daily May 7-September 30 9-5. Visit the center and enjoy hiking trails filled with pine and spectacular views of Kabetogama Lake. (218) 374-3221
ELLSWORTH ROCK GARDENS The Ellsworth Rock Gardens are located on the Kabetogama Peninsula across
from Cutover Island. The site includes a picnic area and dock access to facilitate
exploration of the gardens and rock sculptures that were
developed here by
Jack Ellsworth from the 1940s to the 1960s.
VINCE
SHUTTE BEAR SANCTUARY Here you can see the wild bears in their natural habitat up close
and personal. Don't forget your cameras! Near Orr.
BOG
WALK At the Voyageurs National Park and Orr Area Information Center. Open
daily, year 'round. The center offers the chance to walk through a bog without getting your feet

HISTORIC KETTLE FALLS HOTEL &
DAM Visit the Kettle Falls Historic District where you can look south into
Canada from the international border, visit the dam, the 1912 dam tenders
cabin, the site of a blind pig and the 1912 Kettle Falls Hotel.
KOOCHICHING COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM State of the art facility will preserve and educate all visitors about the
history of Koochiching County with well-researched and exciting exhibits.
Over 10,000 items are exhibited in the museum and cover other topics
including Native American artifacts, geology, homesteading era, early
settlement, farm equipment, antique cars, toy and dolls, and much more! Museum opened May thru September.
BRONKO NAGURSKI MUSEUM The Bronko Nagurski Museum is a lasting tribute to an outstanding man,
athlete and citizen. It is the first modern museum in America dedicated to
an individual football player. Museum opened May thru September. For more information call

BOISE CASCADE PAPER MILL TOURS The art and craft of papermaking is as old as recorded history, and, in International Falls, the growth of the papermaking
industry and the growth
of the city have gone hand in hand. Tours are offered June through August. 218-285-5011
WATERS OF THE
DANCING SKY SCENIC BYWAY Named for the
that can often be seen dancing in the sky, this is Minnesota's
northernmost byway. This breathtaking route traverses 191 miles
along Minnesota Highway 11 through lakes, the legendary
Rainy River, forests, farmland, and several cities and small
towns.
Our weather features warm summer days, cool nights and cold winters! Spring and fall temperatures run
from 60's for highs and 30's for lows. The four seasons are all well
represented in the Voyageurs area!
